BMW has issued a recall for an unspecified number of X5 and X6 vehicles from the 2011 model year, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The recall affects vehicles built between April 1 and May 8, 2010, which have tire labels that don’t meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, “Tire Selection and Rims.” While the vehicles are equipped with 20-inch wheels, the labels say they’re equipped with 19-inch wheels, which makes the required tire pressure incorrect, as well.
Tires improperly inflated can cause poor vehicle handling or even blowouts, both of which can lead to accidents.
BMW will provide the correct labels, and owners can either affix the labels themselves or take their vehicle to a BMW dealer, who will do it for free. Owners may contact BMW at 800-525-7417 or NHTSA’s hot line at 888-327-4236.
In this weekâs latest batch of recalls, Chrysler recalls two additional vehicle lines; BMW fixes some incorrect labels; and Bombardier fixes the transmission on its quirky three-wheeled Can-Am Spyder.
2007-2010 Jeep Wrangler
The Problem: On certain Wranglers built between May 2006 and August 2010, the front inner fender liners may rub against certain brake lines. The front inner fender liners may make contact with the front brake tubes, which could wear the lines, create a fluid leak.
The Fix: Dealers will trim the inner fender liners and replace their fasteners, while also inspecting the brake lines for damage. If worn, the lines will be replaced free of charge.

2008-2009 Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Caravan
The Problem: Vans built between February and September 2007 may have been built with a wire harness that wasnât properly routed during assembly. As a result, the lower sliding door hinge assembly could contact the loom, wear through insulation, and possibly create a short circuit.
The Fix: Dealers will inspect the wiring harness for the power sliding door for damage, and, if necessary, replace the loom. Dealers will also zip-tie the two harnesses together, and route them underneath the sliding doorâs weather strip.

2011 BMW X5 and X6
The Problem: Stickers, so it seems. According to BMW, X5 and X6 vehicles built April 1 and May 8, 2010, may have been given the wrong tire safety label. These vehicles were built with 20-inch wheel/tire combinations, but were given labels with pressure and loading information pertinent to the 19-inch option.
The Fix: BMW will notify owners and provide free replacement labels. Owners can either apply the sticker themselves, or take their X5 or X6 to a local dealer for installation.

2010 Can-Am Spyder RS and RT
The Problem: Itâs not quite a motorcycle and not quite a car, but NHTSA is still officiating a recall for the spunky three-wheeler built by Bombardier Recreational Products. According to BRP, certain Spyder RS and RT models equipped with a five-speed semi-automatic gearbox may fail to disengage the clutch when the rider brings the trike to a full stop. If this happens, the engine will stall in gear, preventing riders from either re-starting the Spyder or pushing it off the road.
The Fix: Dealers will update the centrifugal clutch assembly with all-new parts, including a centrifugal weight roller, gasket ring, sealing washer, and gasket. The repairs will be performed free of charge, but BRP is still working on developing a timeframe for implementing the repairs.
