Speculation: Audi May Produce A3 Sedan for U.S. Market
A four-door Audi A3 might eventually join the hatchback model in the U.S., according to the German outlet Financial Times.
While such a four-door hasn’t been given the final OK to move forward, it could be just what the U.S. A3 lineup needs to sell in larger numbers.
Through the first seven months of the year, the A4, A5, and A6 (plus the Q5 and Q7) all sold more than the less expensive A3. The option of diesel has begun to account for a good portion of A3 sales in the U.S., but an A3 with a trunk lid — no matter the powertrain — could yield big rewards.
A 2011 A3 five-door starts at $28,145; a four-door version would probably slot just below that. If the A1 is too small for American tastes, do you think an A3 sedan would be a good move for Audi?

Snap Judgment: Would You Buy a Volkswagen BlueSport Roadster?
On Friday, we reported that Volkswagen is closer to a decision whether or not to produce its eco-performance BlueSport roadster. We’re excited, but what do you think?
The BlueSport, which will feature most of VW’s latest green-friendly technological advancements, will give the brand a much-needed edge, in the form of a small roadster. Stop/start technology and regenerative braking work will work with a hot turbocharged engine — we’re not sure yet whether it’s going to be diesel or gas-powered — for an estimated 55 mpg. With a base price estimated to be under $30,000, it will be able to compete with the likes of the Mazda Miata, or even hotter convertibles. What’s not to like?
The BlueSport roadster joins a growing list of exciting, green sports cars, like the upcoming Porsche 918 Spyder.
Today’s Snap Judgment:

The 2010 BMW X5 M is a high-performance version of the X5 utility vehicle. With a 555-horsepower, twin-turbocharged V-8, it’s the sports car of utility vehicles—taking on the Porsche Cayenne—yet it still has a 6,600-pound tow rating and nearly all the other practical aspects of the other gasoline and diesel X5 models. Despite its height, the X5…
